It helped me having a clearer idea on how to position my film practice
Ian Cardinali har efter master på HDK-Valand valt att fortsätta knyta band i Sverige. Tempo MeetUp är ett bra tillfälle att träff andra dokumentärfilmare och lära känna branschen.
It was the first time for me at the Tempo Documentary festival. For myself, coming from abroad, it was a precious experience into the Scandinavian, but not only, documentary film world. Tempo Meet-up was the perfect framework. A packed programme with a lot of interesting films, talks and various events.
From the opening night to the presentations of the peers in the programme, I could breathe a fresh atmosphere with talented filmmakers with upcoming works as well as more mature films and professionals. It was very inspiring to get to know people through their films and made it easier to connect, and share our processes and ideas.
During the following days we attended masterclasses with Ellen Fiske and MDEMC. Both masterclasses were well thought through and nicely paired. One from a more mature and already acclaimed director with precious tips in her workflow and one from a younger company that is more relatable to our current stage and we can draw from directly.
Pitches and Work-In –Progress as well as the networking events were inspiring and useful to see the different steps in the process that we should engage with. It helped me having a clearer idea on how to position my film practice and myself in the industry. I want to thank Tempo and FilmCloud to give me the chance to participate. I think it’s great that this programme is gradually opening up to international professionals to be influenced and enrich the vibrancy of the Scandinavian film scene.
Tack
